Energy - Photovoltaics

Solar energy is available in virtually unlimited quantities. The solar energy can be used for power generation for example by using thermal processes in form of solar panels (hot water supply) or photovoltaic processes (solar cells).

Photovoltaic systems convert sun light in electricity by using solar cells. Usually, the generated energy is fed into the public power grid. Solar cells are either amorphous silicon layers or polycrystalline or monocrystalline silicon cells. These solar cells are wired among each other as standard moduls by the manufacturer. Due to the different wiring options standard moduls can have various sizes and shapes. Due to these variations it is possible to attach solar cells to different girder constructions, e.g. to roofs, facades and carports. Furthermore, it is possible to erect solar modules on open space when attached to an alluminium girder construction. These open space systems can not only be erected on undeveloped ground but also on brownfields and landfill sites. Hence, photovoltaic systems offer a possibility to use anthropogenic sites for the renewable energy generation.

Our multidisciplinary team offers the following services for the photovoltaic use of solar energy:

  • Identification of potentially suitable locations or a assessment of photovoltaic options on defined sites
  • Preliminary design and preparation of feasibility and economical studies
  • Compilation of approval documentation (building application, building permit)
  • In the context of complex approval procedures we cooperate with specialized engineering offices in order to prepare environmental assessments, fauna-flora-studies, EIAs, etc.
  • Preparation of tender documents and support during contract award process
  • Supervision and coordination of construction measures, intermediate and final inspections of the photovoltaic system

It is our goal to design a photovoltaic system with the highest possible capacity under the given site conditions.
